This is the first official HAVEFUN skateboarding contest. The winner will be chosen by the awesome guys at havefun skateboards. Don’t worry we like to do that kind of stuff so we’ll play fair.

We want you to be creative. Think for yourself and most of all have fun. That’s what life is about right? Be carefree and take it easy and treat others with respect and dignity.  Treat others like you’d like to be treated.

Here are the guidelines of the contest:

1. Only one entry per person.
2. You can submit your entry on this web page in the comments, on our Youtube account or on our Myspace account.
3. Only U.S. entries will be able to win the grand prize. Sorry , shipping is horrible and we’re just a small company. Even shipping to Canada would break our bank account. We are truly sorry. But feel free to submit your ideas anyway, you never know who is going to read it!
4. There will only be one winner.
5. The contest will last for exactly 4 weeks and will end on October 2nd 2008 at midnight EST.

So now that you know the boring rules here’s the fun stuff. If you could  change the world and make it a more fun place to live in , how would you do that?

When I think about change I think about how skateboarding was when I was a kid. It was innocent. It was pure. There were no politics. There were no groups of people that hated other groups of people because the boards that they rode. There were no trade shows. There were no TV super stars.

It was just plain and simple fun.

havefun skateboarding doesn’t hate anyone. We don’t talk bad about so and so’s we don’t really care what other people do as long as it doesn’t have a negative effect on other people.

We don’t really care what you do as long as you’ve got 4 wheels rolling on the ground. That’s what’s great about skateboarding, it takes all types to make this great life-altering thing that we do. If we were all the same skateboarding would be the most boring thing ever.

Well, actually that’s not it. I made business cards last night at like 2 AM. I didn’t know it would take this much effort to get this thing going, but it’s well worth it! I was up till 4 am last night working on havefun stuff. It’s going to be sweet!

We are making Barack Obama Skateboards. We think they are pretty freakin’ sweet.  We also think that our friends over at stayvocal are pretty sweet. http://www.stayvocal.com . We are doing this contest together because both of our companies are about change. Change is good.

So, you know how all the big skateboard companies take themselves super serious? Ya, it’s pretty lame. We don’t think that skateboarding is about money. We think skateboarding is all about having fun.

I mean, how many times have you been out skating and laughed your ass off at your friend who has lost a shoe when he bails? What about when you fall, you have to laugh at yourself because you know you fall like a complete idiot right? I don’t know about you, but I sure as hell laugh at myself every chance that I get.  I’m a complete nerd and I know it.
